AS the primary election for the 2023 Presidential Elections in the country draws closer, the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Contact and Advocacy Council has expressed dismay that Nigeria has practically become toxic as a result of toxic leadership.
The leader of the Council, Prof (Sen) Iyorwuese Hagher, spoke weekend in Asaba, the Delta State capital, when he led members to the Secretariat of the state chapter of the party (PDP) canvassed for support of the PDP delegates for the actualization of the Saraki presidential ambition in 2023.
Prof. Hagher, therefore, appealed to Delta State PDP delegates to support a Bukola Saraki presidency to cleanse the nation of its toxicity.
While lamenting the pervasive rot in Nigeria, Prof Hagher stated, “The time has come for serious Nigerians to step forward to take charge of this country. We can no longer leave the affairs of this country to mediocre leadership.”
The chairman of the Council, however, described the rot as a direct manifestation of a failed government occasioned by the ineptitude of the Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC).
Prof Hagher, a former presidential aspirant and high commissioner to Canada expressed optimism that the leadership of Dr Bukola Saraki will be the right leadership for Nigeria, especially at this point in time when the country was confronted with numerous challenges.
According to him, As governor of Kwara State, he has a track record; as senate president, he has a track record; record of doing the right thing. As president of this country, Saraki has the political will to implement the much-needed change Nigeria desires. Responding, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta state, Mr. Kingsley Esiso, said that he has no doubt that Saraki was well-equipped to make a good
president.
“He (Saraki) is a man of intelligence and capacity. As the chairman of our party’s reconciliatory committee, he has done very well to unite the party”, the Delta PDP chairman said.
Esiso assured the delegation that he would relate the message of the council to the leaders of the party and the governor of Delta state.
The members of the Saraki Contact and Advocacy Council include Dr. Ahmadu Musa, Alhaji Aliyu Maigari, Sen. Shaaba Lafiagi, Engr. Hassan Husseini MNI, Prince Oleteru Lekan, Comr Judith Bindi, Moses Aliyu and Comrade David Itopa.
