NDE disburses N3.8m loan to 38 youths in Kogi

NATIONAL Directorate of Employment (NDE), under its Rural Employment Promotion, has given loans of N100, 000 each to 38 youths in Kogi to implement four schemes towards promoting sustainable agricultural development.

Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, Director General of NDE flagged off the disbursement programme at the weekend in Lokoja.

Fikpo who was represented by the state coordinator, Mallam Abubakar Zakari described agriculture as the only sector that has the potential to create mass employment for the unemployed youths in Nigeria.

He said the loan was granted to the beneficiaries to enable them embark on four agricultural schemes including, Graduate Agricultural Enhancement and Community Based Agricultural Empowerment.

Others are Sustainable Agricultural Development and Agricultural Enhancement schemes under the Rural Employment Promotion.

The Director General said that aside the loan disbursement, a total of 100 unemployed youths were trained on Sustainable agricultural development.

The Director General reiterated the desire of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to tackle unemployment headlong by embarking on programmes that would create more job opportunities for the Youths.
