APC former Governors’ forum greets Nigerians @ Sallah

Chairman of Former Governors Forum of All Progressives Congress, APC, Sen. Bukar Abba Ibrahim and the forum, warmly felicitate with Muslims all over the country on the occasion of the celebration of Eid-el Fitr.

In a press statement, High Chief Sunnie Chukwumele, Publicity Secretary stated that the practice of waiting, self denial, prayers which is the hallmark of fasting, is one of the cardinal templates of sacrifice and commitment to the principles of Islam.

He further explained that the forgiveness and reconciliation tenets of the fasting period, which cut across all tribes in Nigeria, where Muslim Umma are, reminds all individuals of their oneness and togetherness as a nation.

“It is therefore an opportunity for us to appreciate and celebrate with one another as a people bound in love and unity.

“I equally use this opportunity to call on the political class to play politics without bitterness and rancour.

“To all Nigerians, I further admonish us all to continue to embrace and promote fundamental principles of care and joy to all that the conclusion of Ramadan equally symbolises.

“May the blessing of Allah fill the life of Nigerians with peace, joy and good health, Happy Eid-el Fitr,” he said.

Earlier, the Sultan of Sokoto and Sarkin Muslimi in Nigeria, Sa’ad Abubakar, declared Monday 2 May, as the official date to mark the annual festival in line with the directive of the federal government through the office of Secretary to Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.

Eid-el -Fitr is an annual celebration amongst Muslim faithful, commemorating the end of fasting and prayers.
