As Nigeria joins the rest of the world in celebrating this year’s Eid-el-fitri marking the end of the Ramadan fasting, the lawmaker representing Obokun/ Oriade Federal Constituency of Osun State, Rep Oluwole Oke (PDP-Osun) has urged religious leaders to pray fervently for peace and revival of the country, more so in the countdown to next year’s general election.

He also called on Nigerians generally to eschew avarice and violence in the build up to political activities so as to achieve a peaceful transition process.

Hon Oke who is the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts, urged Muslim faithful to use the occasion to pray for the restoration of the nation’s lost glory for her to regain her rightful seat in the comity of Nations.

According to him, “Nigeria is rising again; our religious leaders should rise up and pray for the country to be united in all ramifications.

“We celebrated Easter last week, now the Muslim Faithful are celebrating the Eid-el-fitri, the divine timing alone signifies a symbol of religious harmony and unity which should be encouraged by the two major faiths in the country to bring about harmony nationwide.

“I am appealing for prayers from our Religious leaders and calling on politicians to play the game according to the rules and also on the security agents to be on the alert so we can deliver a free and fair polls come 2023” Oke concluded.
