The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, five -man Delegates Committee for the three -man ad-hoc delegates Congress, has cancelled the exercise in Anambra State.

The panel has not fixed a new date for the exercise which was to be held on Saturday but shifted to Sunday by the Panel because of their alleged late arrival in the State.

Jibrin Ahmed, Chairman and Ogbonna Victor Okorie, the Secretary of the Committee told the party stakeholders Sunday that the cancellation was their inability to provide the original result sheets for the Congress.

Despite shifting the Congress to Sunday, when they communicated with the stakeholders who assembled at the Party Secretariat at Udoka housing estate in Awka, they claimed to have left the result sheets in their hotel, while they brought photocopies of the result sheets.

The PDP stakeholders, who became infuriated by such defence, engaged them in a shouting match and held them hostage.

And in the process, the Panel agreed and wrote a letter of cancellation of the Congress to the Anambra State PDP stakeholders.

It was signed by Ahmed the Chairman and Okorie the Secretary and the other two members, excluding one of the members who ran away.

The letter was handed over to the Administrative Secretary of the party with the photocopies of the result sheets for the 21 local government areas in the State.

It was equally copied to the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, the National Chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu and the State Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng.

According to the letter, “we sincerely apologize for not conducting the congress which was to be held on Saturday but shifted to Sunday by us.

“This was as a result of our inability to provide the original copies of the Congress result sheets and we regret the inconveniences,” he Panel wrote.

However, it was gathered that one of the Committee members who was sent to pick the original result sheets in the Hotel where they said they left them, ran away and abandoned the Chairman and three others at PDP Secretariat in Awka.
