Boys not getting the adequate attention – Women group

A women advocacy group under aegis of Standup for Women Society Bayelsa at the weekend took its ‘Save The Girl Child Campaign’ to Boys of Bishop Dimeari Grammar School (BDGS) – Ovom, Yenagoa.

The sensitization programme which wrapped up the group’s campaign started three months ago, was held at the school premises.

Lib Eunice Nnachi, the State Chairperson of Standup for Women Society, who lamented that, the boy child is not receiving adequate attention, urged the boys to stay away from social voices, while sensitizing them against peer group pressure.

Also speaking, Lib Tekinyo Theophilus; Local Government Coordinator of the group, observed that, boy child are also victims of rape and not only girl child, explained that sensitization campaign is in view of the rise of violence among the younger generation.

She called on other like-minded groups to pick the challenge and help carry the campaign around the state, inorder to instill the right positive mindset on the younger generation.

Master Daniel Desire and Master Sokari Joshua, who are students of Bishop Dimeari Grammar School, applauded the gesture of the group, noting that the sensitisation was an eye-opener, called on stakeholders and government at all levels to give the group the necessary support.
