We’re doing a lot to improve LGs administration, says Gov Bala

Bauchi State Government has reiterated its determination to improve the level of development in Local Government areas.

Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir stated this on Monday when he received in audience, members of the Senior Executive Course 44, of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS Kuru who were on a study tour of the state.

The Governor represented by his Deputy, Senator Baba Tela, said the study tour has a vital role in addressing the issue, because it will serve as a means to intensify challenges, options and solutions.

The governor, who spoke extensively on projects and programs being executed by his administration towards improving the lives of people, expressed hope that at the end of the exercise, they will receive a feedback from the team on ways the government will consolidate on the current status of the local government councils to make them more variable tier of government for the benefit of the citizens.

Nigerian Pilot reports that the team was also at the Palace of the Emir of Bauchi, where the monarch, Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu, commended the NIPSS for its effort in training Senior Executives, which according to him helps in improving the lives of Nigerians in general.

While calling for the enrollment of traditional rulers in the institute, the Emir stressed the need for recognizing the roles of traditional institutions in the constitution of the country, in view of their critical roles in the development of the society.

Earlier, the leader of delegation of the Senior Executive Course 44, Dr. Ibrahim Choji, told the Deputy Governor and the Emir, that the team was in Bauchi, for a study tour on the topic “strengthening local governance in Nigeria: Challenges, Options and Opportunities being a research work given to them by the presidency.
