NDE trains 130 women on events planning in FCT

Women Employment Branch (WEB) of the National Directorate of Employment NDE -FCT has commenced one week training for over 130 women in FCT on various skills, as a prerequisite for sustainable development empowerment.

The Director General of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo who was represented by the Deputy Director, SSE Chikodili Ike said 50 women will be trained on Events management, Gele and Makeup, another 50 on Tye and Dye making while 30 will be trained on Natural, Organic products, Stones/Bead and Perfumery.

He said the initiative was idealized to boost women’s productivity, increases economic diversification and income equality in addition to other positive development outcomes and when more women work, economies grow because Women make up over half of Nigeria’s population and therefore are integral to the growth of the nation’s economy, and encourage them to take responsibility so as to benefit from the programme.

In the same vein, the Acting State Coordinator, NDE-FCT, Mr. Noble Chimereze said it was in the light of enhancing the economic productivity of women that the NDE-FCT flagged off the one week training program for women with the aim to train and empower women across Nigeria, saying when women are living a safe, fulfilled and productive lives, they can reach their full potential and contribute their skills to the workforce and raise happier and healthier children.

Chimereze encouraged participants to make good use of the opportunity and pay rapt attention to the training and learn the needed skills to better their lives.

Also speaking, the Representatives of the Director, SSE department, Mrs. Ngozi Ejiofor, said the opportunity given them is uncommon and should not be treated with levity saying “It’s not the time to be distracted by phone calls or social media but a time to learn for self-development”.
