Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has placed a N10 million reward for anybody or group that could provide information on the killers of the lawmaker representing him in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Okechukwu Okoye and his aide, Mr. Cyril Chiegboka.

The head of Okoye, who was kidnapped last week along with his aide, was seen along Nnobi – Ojoto road on Saturday night.

It would be recalled that unknown gunmen had on Saturday beheaded and hung at a motor park the head of Hon Okechukwu Okoye, the lawmaker representing Aguata II Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly.

Okoye was kidnapped last week, alongside one other person in his Toyota Sienna car by unknown persons.

The police later recovered the car and said that they had deployed operatives to rescue the lawmaker.

But the Anambra Police Command in an update on the development on Saturday said the lawmaker had been killed.

Spokesperson of the Command, Ikenga Tochukwu, who confirmed the sad incident, said, “Okoye’s head was found along Nnobi Road, in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, where it was hanged. His body was not there and indications were that the killers removed the body. There is no suspect in custody yet.”

A shocked Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo has offered a N10 million reward for information to track the killers of the abducted lawmaker

He said the state government has condemned the incident and placed a N10 million reward for anyone or group that will avail valuable information that will lead to the immediate arrest of the perpetrators.

According to a statement by the governor’s Press Secretary, Christian Aburime: “Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo; has received with shock and deep sadness the news of the gruesome murder of Hon. Okechukwu Okoye, member representing Aguata II Constituency at the State House of Assembly and his aide, Cyril Chiegboka. Both Hon Okoye and Cyril Chiegboka were kidnapped on the road by the heartless and barbaric murderers on 15th May.

“Gov Soludo condoles with his kinsmen of Isuofia, noting that it is probably the same criminal gang that attacked him and killed three policemen at Isuofia two years ago that are once again on the prowl. But they can never cow down Isuofia and Anambra State.

“Governor Soludo, still in shock over the barbaric acts against his two kinsmen, vowed that the perpetrators as well as all criminals operating in Anambra must be decisively brought to book.
