PDP drags Nwaoboshi to court for defection

Peoples Democratic Party PDP has dragged Senator Peter Nwaoboshi to an Asaba Federal High Court over his defection to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Senator Nwaoboshi is representing the Delta North in the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

The PDP is seeking to stop Nwaoboshi from parading himself as senator representing Delta North senatorial district ,for decamping from the Party to the opposition All Progressive Congress APC.

A member of the PDP, Hon. Uche Egbuche had deposed in an affidavit that he has the consent and authority of the party as plaintiff, to institute the legal action to protect democracy.

In the suit marked number FHC /ASA/C5/39)2022, the Plaintiff is demanding that since PDP sponsored Nwaoboshi to the Senate in 2019 and having become member of another political party he should be compelled to resign or vacate his seat in the Senate.

In the originating summons, Counsel to the plaintiff, had stated”

“That it is publicly known that the Supreme Court of Nigeria laid it down as law that votes earned at elections belong to political parties and not the candidates.

“That the votes won at an election by a political party cannot be transferred to,or utilized for the benefit of another political party or member of another.
