Lawmaker hails Gov Bello over free, fair APC primaries in Kogi

Member representing Idah/Ibaji/Igalamela/Ofu Federal Constituency of Kogi State in the House of Representatives, Hon. David Idris Zacharias has commended Governor Yahaya Bello for ensuring free and fair primaries of All Progressives Congress, APC for all elective positions across the state.

Zacharias, who spoke to journalists in Abuja, described the processes leading to the primaries of various levels across the state as most free and fair as a result of the governor’s commitment to the APC which he has been providing sterling leadership for the past six years of his administration.

The lawmaker, who won his return ticket, recalled that Governor Bello at each meeting with party stakeholders insisted on due process and creation of a level playing field for all aspirants to test their popularity which he ensured during the primaries.

He also explained that the APC leadership in the state was focused in ensuring that all contestants were carried along at each processes despite, campaign of calumny against some party members because of political interests.

“The outcome of the APC primary elections is a testimony of Governor Yahaya Bello’s commitment to provide leadership qualities which has made the party stronger and united.

“I recalled that the governor has often told the party leadership and all those who aspire for offices from the State Assembly to the National Assembly that there would be a level playing field for everyone which is exactly what happened,” Zacharias stressed.

Speaking on those who lost their return tickets, the lawmaker said, “there is no winner, no vanquished”, while he called on them to join hands to work for the success of the APC, noting that there is always another day.

He said: “In the ruling All Progressives Congress, there’s no winner, no vanquished and I call on all those who lost the primary elections to team up with the party to form a formidable force ahead of 2023 general elections to deliver the party at all levels in Kogi State.

“To my constituents and delegates, I commend them for their understanding and commitment to the APC at each ward, each polling unit and by the grace of God, more dividends of democracy would be provided for them.”
