Total E&P boss pledges 10 million education fund to Ngwa indigenes

Engr Obi Imemban, the Executive Director, Total Energies, E&P, Nigeria JV Assets Port Harcourt District, has promised to support the people of Ngwa extraction in Abia state, with a N10 million education fund to boost human capital development.

He also promised to take over the phase 1, of Ngwa Welfare club house, valued at N6million.

Imemba made the pledge while being bestowed with an award of ‘Excellence’, in recognition of his exceptional and meritorious elevation, by the Ngwa Welfare Club Port Harcourt.

Engr Imemba who is a son of Ngwa ethnic nationality, expressed his interest in the development of education, noted that investment in human capital development promotes peaceful, stable economic and technological advanced society.

He expressed surprise and joy, for such a recognition and large turn out of people from all walks of life to witness the honour being bestowed on him, most especially the major stakeholders in the oil and Gas industry.

Commenting further Engr Imemba, who is the founder of Hill City, which provides educational support and endowment, revealed that for the past 18 years, his foundation had granted scholarships to more than 300 undergraduate Africans.

In his welcome address, the president of Ngwa Welfare club Port Harcourt, Mr Monday Azubuike Josiah, paid glowing tribute to the awardee, describing as a worthy and proud son of Ngwa land, revealing that, Ngwa Welfare club is only for responsible men and women of Ngwa extraction.

He said, “We bestow such an award only to those with integrity and have distinguished themselves in their various endeavors”, adding that for the past 44 years of existence, Ngwa Welfare Club had lived up to its formative spirit of assisting one another in time of difficulty and needs.
