Osun Guber: IGP redeploys Osun Commissioner over alleged unprofessional conduct

As the Osun State, 2022 Governorship election draws nearer the, Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba has ordered temporary redeployment of Osun State Commissioner of Police, Adewale Olokode, following protest over some alleged unprofessional conduct against him by different groups.

Osun 2022 Governorship election holds on July 16.

The order came weeks after several groups in the state called for his removal over alleged incompetence.

Olokode, has been redeployed to the Force Headquarters, Abuja, to act as the Provost and replaced by Compol Julius Alwari Okoro.

As contained in a police wireless message dated June 30, 2022, and obtained by our reporter Julius Okoro will replace him as the new Police Commissioner in Osun State.

“Police wireless message with the reference number, SJ: 1800/FDPS/DOPS/FHQ/ABJ/VOL2/10; stated that the redeployment takes immediate effect.

“Okoro is expected to supervise the Osun election and then leave after the election. Mr. Olokode will then return to his post as the police commissioner”, the signal stated.

The police signal read in part, “INGENPOL has ordered the deployment of the following officers as indicated against their names: “To CP Election Osun State: Compol Julius Alwari Okoro.”

Recall that members of the All Progressives Congress APC, alleged to be loyal to Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola recently protested against the alleged incessant arrest of members by police in the state.

The faction, led by the Chairman, Rasaq Salinsile protested to the state command headquarters, demanding the redeployment of the police Commissioner, Olawale Olokode.

The protesters marched on the police state command headquarters, Oke-Oniti area, Osogbo, bearing placards with inscriptions which read; “IGP: Call Osun Police to order”, “Tell us who attacked Oranmiyan House”, “Egalitarian society is our demand”, “CP Olokode, stop playing Gboyega Oyetola’s scripts”, among others.
