THE Presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Daura, Katsina State, said the choice of the former Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima was based on the competence of the condidate.
Tinubu on Sunday formally announced Senator Kashim Ibrahim Shettima as his running mate in the 2023 general elections.
He made the announcement while speaking with journalists in Daura shortly after he had a one – hour closed door meeting with the President Muhammadu Buhari.
The APC Presidential candidate assured that his party, being a progressive, will win 2023 general elections saying he is aware of the challenges being faced by Nigerians, noting that the party was prepared and ready to face the challenges.
Tinubu paid Sallah homage to President Muhammadu Buhari, honouring the President with information on his choice of running mate, Sen. Kashim Ibrahim Shettima.
“I equally discuss the question of my running mate. One of them withdraw today, I mean the only one that was in placeholder’ waiting, we got replacement today and there will be announcement to replace him fully as the substantive candidate. Kashim Shettima. I have not discussed with him but I disclose to you ( journalists)
“We are going to win insha Allah. I am confident because we are a progressive party, we have the focus on Nigerian problem and we faces the challenges squarely, we are not running away from it. We have a better program for the people and about the people and ready to serve. Within a short period of time we had built a good foundation on infrastructure and we faced with challenges of terrorism we know that, is only a poor thinker will not recognize the challenge but once you recognized a challenge, you can prepare yourself very well to tackle it and defeat it and that is what our party is all about.
“Kashim Shettima is competent, reliable, capable and able” Tinubu said.
After conferring with President Buhari, the APC Presidential Candidate, accompanied by Governor Aminu Bello Masari, told newsmen that the President had to be properly notified, before an announcement would be made.
Shettima, a serving Senator representing Borno Central, was a former Governor of Borno State.
