July 31st Deadline: Delta INEC puts in measures to ensure voters get PVC

As the July 31st deadline for registration of voters for Permanent Voters Cards draws nearer, the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), Delta State has put in measures towards ensuring that all eligible voters get registered for their Permanent Voters Cards(PVC) in the state.

Nigerian Pilot visit to INEC registration centres at Oshimili South Local Government headquarters and the Commission’s headquarters in Asaba saw the staff of the Commission struggling to register the people that came out to register.

It observed presence of a good number of computers at strategic locations being manned by the staff, while the surging crowd of the people waiting patiently to get registered according to first come, first served.

Speak to some of the persons on the challenges of getting registered on time, Miss Favour Okobi said that she has been waiting for some hours without being registered due to the number of people that came before her.

Okobi expressed hope that she would not go home until she gets registered to obtain her PVC.

Also, Mr. Henry Oghenero, a Mechanic, told Nigerian Pilot that the staff of INEC have been working tirelessly to register every eligible voter.

He blamed himself for not coming out before now to get registered, just as he called on INEC to extend the date of registration.

Meanwhile, the INEC Public Relations Officer in charge of Voter Education, Delta State, Mr. Bukola Vob has assured eligible voters yet to get registered for their PVC, that the Commission would do its possible best to ensure that they get registered.
