No fewer than 33 constituency projects are set to be inaugurated this month by the Senator representing Akwa Ibom North West Obong Chris Ekpenyong.
Ekpeyong who made this known in an interview with newsmen yesterday in Uyo, described his stint in the Red Chamber, as eventful and worthwhile, adding that he would not aspire to the Senate for a second term even as he said the period has brought him closer to the grassroots to understand their feelings and challenges.
Ekpeyong took a retrospective look at his performance in the last couple of years and scored himself a passmark, saying his tenure has witnessed the initiation of no fewer than 33 constituency projects spread across the 10 Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom North-West.
The former deputy governor said he has originated and sponsored some bills seeking “to bring development projects to the State”, assuring that before his tenure lapses in 2023, “the people will experience the full impacts of my representation”.
The projects he said would include skill acquisition centre, solar-powered water project, markets, schools’ renovation, construction of classroom blocks, road projects and the empowerment of youths in vocational trainings and scholarships.
Ahead of the general elections, Ekpenyong warned the electorates against sentiments in making choices, explaining that “Nigeria is in dire need of patriotic and capable leaders with the zeal to reinvent Nigeria.
“I was sent by my people and, I am happy to report progress that several development projects have been attracted alongside bills that will improve the standard of lives of our communities and the people,” he said.
