Terrorists had reportedly killed a driver of a commercial bus and kidnapped two travellers of a private vehicle along Katsina/Jibia highway in Katsina State.

Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah confirmed the incident to newsmen on Thursday.

The driver Mallam Bello, 56, while the two travellers were identified as Babangida Kachile, 56 and Halimat Shuaibu, 50.

It was learnt that Bello was the driver of the commercial bus, Kachile and Shuaibu were the occupants of a private car.

The Commercial bus driver was said to have been shot and killed on the spot while Kachile and Shuaibu reportedly abandoned their vehicle and escaped into the bush before the hoodlums descended on them.

According to him “yes, it is true. What happened was that the terrorists were two in number and were firing shots here and there. The two vehicles ran into them on the highway.

“The Commercial driver was not that lucky as he was shot and killed by the terrorists. The two occupants of the private car abandoned their car and escaped into the nearby bush. Security operatives who arrived at the scene escorted other passengers inside the commercial bus who had earlier escaped into the bush but who later came out when they saw the security operatives escorted them away from the scene”, he said.
