FG organises sensitisation workshop on Presidential Executive Order 5 for Staff of Interior Ministry

Ministry of Interior has organized a sentization workshop for its staff on Presidential Executive Order 5 as it affects the mandate of the Ministry.

In his opening remarks at the function, held at its headquarters in Abuja, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, who was represented by his Special Assistant, Mr. Ayodele Ademola, implored participants to acquaint themselves with the theme of the sensitization workshop titled ”Executive Order 5 for prompt service delivery.”

He advised the staff to freely interact with the Resource Persons, from Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, for better appreciation of the importance of Presidential Executive Order 5; considering the critical role it will play in achieving the mandate of the Interior Ministry, in terms of accelerating the development of the country.

Earlier in his welcome address at the event, the Director, Reform, Coordination and Service Improvement department, Mr Lawal Adele, represented by Mrs. Caroline Ugwu, – an Assistant Director, urged participants to take the Executive Order 5 training seriously; as failure to do so, would negatively affect their quest for efficient service delivery.

The Resource person from Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, who is also the National Coordinator on Compliance, Order 5, – Engr. Ibia Eguejiofo, FNSI, who took participants through information background on the Presidential Executive Order, said it’s purpose is to achieve administrative convenience; hence the need to draw the attention of all staff of Interior Ministry to the Executive Order 5 As it relates to the activities of the Ministry.

He said the importance that the present administration attaches to quick implementation of the Executive Order 5 is the reason why the newly created Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation was created to drive the implementation.

Oguejiofo declared that President Muhammad Buhari, was the first civilian President that employed the instrumentality of Executive Order in democratic governance; stating that ‘once such Executive order is signed by the President, it becomes law and must be complied with.

He warned that if directives on Executive Order 5 is not faithfully implementef, the quest to save Nigerian youths from being slaves to foreign enterprenuers in their bonafide country will be in peril.
