NASS Service Commission harps on capacity building to enhance staff productivity

Executive Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission, Alhaji Ahmed Amshi has stressed the need for continuous capacity building for the House of Representatives staff for an enhanced productivity.

Alhaji Amshi who made this known at the opening of a three day Capacity Building workshop for staff of the House of Representatives in Abuja said without such training, the productivity rate of the staff will continue to decline.

The Capacity building workshop was organised by House of Representatives in Collaboration with Sahl Human Resources to improve the capabilities of staff to meet international standards in legislative processes

The Executive Chairman observed that training and retraining of staff is imperative for enhanced productivity and national development.

Represented by the Commissioner Representating North East,. Abubakar Tutari, the Executive Chairman maintained that the Commission would continue to introduce initiatives that will improve legislative processes.

In his own speech, the Clerk of the House of Representatives, Dr Yahaya DanZaria pointed out that the best way to attain optimal performance and productivity is through the empowerment of staff.

According to him, the need to strengthen the capacity of staff to be in tune with legislative procedures prompted the training which he believed would help them be up to date with international best practices in legislative matters.

Some of the participants Mr Paul Adiu and Idowu Adebukola who spoke on the workshop were hopeful of a positive outcome from the training as they believed it would enhance the capacity to support legislators in law making processes.
