As controversy over alleged planned electoral fraud now known as ‘Omuma magic’ continuous the Ohanaeze Youths Movement has accused the camp of the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma of being behind the call by a faction of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide on the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, to reign.

In a statement made available to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, the Ohanaeze youths Secretary General, Nwada Amaka argued that Ikechukwu Izigusoro who issued the statement belonged to a faction of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo whose members are pro-Uzodinma.

The statement also argued that the highly compromised factional Ohanaeze Ndigbo took the unpopular stand because of the refusal of the INEC chairman to cover up what it described as the “Omuma magic.”

“We have read with disgust a statement credited to a faction of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo loyal to Governor Hope Uzodinma calling for the resignation of the INEC chairman.

“The call is not only laughable but also unpatriotic considering the efforts the Commission under the leadership of its current Chairman, has put in place to ensure the success of the 2023 general elections.

“We are aware that the faction that made that inglorious call is pro-Uzodinma. The governor picks the bill of these disgruntled and unpatriotic members of a faction of Ohanaeze loyal to Governor Uzodinma.

“We therefore call on Prof Yakubu to ignore the nonsensical call and concentrate on his job and deliver credible elections come 2023″, the statement read.
