“Historically, Nigeria got her independence with youths taking charge, the likes of Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, Sir Tafewa Balewa, Mr Enahoro, Sir Herbert Macaulay and Dr Awolowo all being proactive and falls within the youth brackets.

“Nigeria was destined to become the leading and manual guide for other nations as evidently seen in her ability to harness the potential of her God blessed citizens.”

According to him, “Gradually, Nigeria became toxic as tribe and religious affiliation become part of the political ideology of ruling and opposing parties, all these has necessitated poor governmental policies in the areas of appointment’s, national infrastructural attraction, job creation and nominations into various national and international organizations.”

He explained that in the previous years, Nigerian institutions were rated along side world-class citadel of learning across the globe as foreign students preferred Nigerian schools which created foreign Exchange for the nation.

He stated that “Crude and other natural resources were refined in Nigeria, minimum wages tally’s greatly with standard of living all thanks to the regional administrators that pioneered and championed aggressive vision in their zones.

“Remarkably, Chief Awolowo championed free education in the West while Dr Michael Okpara travelled to Israel to study the success behind the Israeli agricultural magic and returned home with a template that translated in to booming of Agriculture transformation in the Eastern zone.

“With all the visible projects, Nigeria was destined to succeed above expectations of the colonial people. Suddenly Nigeria became stagnant due to wanton corruption and aggressive struggle for survival.”

He said that Nigeria as a nation has never been divided across ethnicity and religious line as this stressing that, there’s palpable fear of dominance due to lack of national cohesion and integration.

“Wanton and unchecked corruption among the top rulling class with enviable pride and arrogance

“Over 8 months of lingering ASUU and federal face-off that has resulted in the lost of one full academic calendar.

“Servicing of oil theft from public fund.

“Insecurity which has birthed a lucrative business for criminal state actors. Ransom is now freely collected at any destination.

“Steady depreciation of naira as a result of lack of monetary policy.

“Inaccessible road network’s that has created and caused hardship to Nigerians.

Suggesting the way forward, Dr Echem adviced that, “the 2023 election is a very important poll that will usher a new Nigeria once we’re able to get it right, thus very important aspect has triggered my sincere declaration and support for Mr Peter Obi as the capable candidate for Nigeria at this time. I hereby announce my voluntary withdrawal of my membership from the Young Progressives Party to support the present Nigerian Project.”

He added that this election was not all about parties rather about candidate with the required energy and technical know-how in bringing forth the Nigeria of our dream.
