A group, Society for Youth and the Downthrodden, SOYD, has commended the judicial system for fostering peace and development.

In a press release issued today by the group’s President, Comrade Gabriel Ogwuche titled; “APPEAL COURT JUDGEMENT ON THE TRIAL OF IPOB LEADER”, the group said, “We carefully reviews the combined judgements of the lower court and recent court of appeal dated 13th October, 2022 on the trial of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kalu and feels that the court through the instrumentality of the law, have judiciously performed its complementary roles of fostering peace, national unity and security.

“Indeed, the only common asset that we need is PEACE in every part of Nigeria.

“Hence, we advocates for fairness and justice that is completely devoid of illegality as this is the easiest way to achieve peace as a nation.

“It will be difficult, if not impossible to use illegality to address illegality for whatsoever reasons.”

It noted that, “consequently, we believe that if the appeal court’s decision on this matter is properly reviewed and diagnosed by the government of the federal republic of Nigeria, through the office of the attorney general of the federation with relevant post action plans, it will restore peace in the south east region and other part of the country, especially as 2023 general election draw nearer.

“In view of these, we humbly advice that the federal government and Hon. Minister of justice consider granting freedom to the detained leader of IPOB and restore peace in the south east region of Nigeria.”
