Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria, MMWG has commended the newly sworn-in Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji for appointing a Muslim, Dr. Habibat Omolara Adubiaro as the Secretary to the State Government, SSG.

made available to our correspondent in AbujaAdubiaro, was until the appointment, Amirah of the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria, FOMWAN in the state.

MMWG, in a press statement signed by its National Coordinator, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim, and made available to our correspondent in Abuja, stated that the singular action of Governor Oyebanji, has further convinced the Nigerian Muslims that, good leaders abound in the country.

Ibrahim stated that the new governor has proved to be one of the good, “who are truly concerned about uniting the people for the overall development of Nigerian society.”

“Apart from gender sensitivity of Dr. Habibat’s appointment who is a seasoned academic, it would further raise the bar of governance in Ekiti State by enhancing quality of governance,” he stated.

He, however, admonished other state governments in the country such as Ondo, Benue, Edo, Plateau and others in the South-South and South-East to “recognise the salient point that in all the states qualified indigenous Muslims abound who are capable of delivering on the mandate to the people; hence marginalising them is a violation of their oath of office as taken on their first day in office.”

The coordinator appealed to all Nigerians especially leaders to play down religious politics by avoiding discrimination, partisanship and religious bigotry that impede national progress and development.

He, therefore, wished the new SSG and the entire Ekiti State government a very successful tenure of office.
