As the race towards 2023 general elections gathers momentum, an opposition group under the auspices of the National Consultative Front
, NCF, has inaugurated a merger committee to negotiate a possible merger with an existing political party to oust the ruling party.
The group consisting of eminent Nigerians from all walks of life including politicians, technocrats, and rights activists are bent on unseating the incumbent government of the All Progressive Congress
, APC, and provide a new direction for the country.
Speaking at the virtual inauguration held between Lagos and Abuja, Prof. Pat Utomi, maintained that there was the need to reclaim the country from political pillagers and build a Nigeria that “our children will be proud of.
In his remarks, Dr Olu Agunloye reiterated that the group was on a rescue mission looking for competent and compassionate leadership to change the fortune of this country.
Dr Agunloye advised the members of the committee to avoid the pitfalls of 2014 where the narrative was “anybody but Jonathan”,
Also speaking, founding national chairman of Youth Democratic Party, YDP, Arch. Ezekiel Etuk assured that the kind of alliance the group is planning to build is such that will be able to withstand the challenges of Nigeria and take the country to its desired destination of the founding fathers.
The committee is expected to provide the framework of an alternative party for Nigeria
