As political parties fine-tune their strategies towards the 2023 general elections, the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has warned members of its membership registration appeal committee to be fair to all complainants as their actions have the tendency to make or mar the party’s national convention.
The party gave the warning Thursday while inaugurating the membership registration appeal committee at the party’s national secretariat.
National chairman of APC caretaker committee, Mai Mala Buni, represented by the national secretary, Sen. John Akpanudoedehe, said the registration appeal committee was set up to provide avenues and channels for party members who are dissatisfied with the conduct(s) of party officials (Adhoc or otherwise) or the processes, to ventilate their grievances through an internal mechanism.
Buni who stressed that the registration exercise was no attempt to; exclude, oppress, sideline nor freeze out anybody in the party also charged the committee that their actions in this regard will help engender cohesion, build trust and confidence in the party.
He said, “This exercise is the foundation for a lot of activities; the delegates, congresses, nominations and, even the National Convention. So we must get it right. Party members must own the processes. The registration exercise must end on a high note.
The ongoing membership registration and revalidation exercise which was opposed by some interest groups within the party has cast a cloud of controversy and uncertainty around the much anticipated national convention of the party.
But the caretaker committee believes the appeal committee will do a good job in resolving the fallouts from the exercise.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, Chairman Hon. Farouk Adamu thanked the caretaker committee for finding them worthy of the noble assignment while promising to discharge their duty with justice and equity.
Other members of the 18-man committee are former acting national chairman Hon. Victor Giadom will serve as the secretary and  Emperor Chris Baywood as a member.
