SEQUEL to the bombing of Okehi Local Government Secretariat in Kogi State by unknown gunmen, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cancelled the Grand Finale of its Central Senatorial District Rally earlier scheduled to hold in the area.

A statement from the party signed by Mr Austyn Ochu, Head, Media Team of Kogi Presidential Campaign Committee (KPCC), the decision to cancel the rally was taken at an Extraordinary Stakeholders meeting held on Tuesday.

Ochu said that the extraordinary meeting which reviewed the critical security situation of the District was presided over by Hon. A.K. Saliu and it took place at the country home of the State Party Chairman, Engr Sam Uhuotu.

He said that the security situation of the District with few days to the General Election on Saturday called for concern and culminated in the cancellation.

The party stakeholders, he said, opted to consolidate on the achievements of the various rallies held so far in all the Local Government Areas by further embarking on Door-to-Door Campaign in the remaining days before the election.

The stakeholders according to him, observed that the Security situation of the District had escalated from sporadic gunshots in the strongholds of the PDP to bombing.

The KPCC however regretted the inconveniences the abrupt cancellation of the rally might cause members and supporters of the party.
