NJI holds 2023 refresher course for judges

The National Judicial Institute, NJI, has commenced its 2023 hybrid refresher course for judicial officers, stressing on the need for the independence of the judiciary which according to the institute, is the corner stone of democracy.

Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Olukayode Ariwoola while declaring the event open in Abuja on Monday, said the annual refresher course is an avenue for bringing together Judges from all over the country to discuss issues of collective importance, exchange ideas as well as share experiences targeted at the advancement of justice and enhancement of the judicial arm of government.

According to the CJN, the refresher course is designed to arouse the consciousness of the judges to the responsibilities bestowed on them as key players in the Administration of Justice, as well as bringing them up to speed on modern trends in the judiciary arm of government.

With the theme, “Strengthening Judicial Independence and Quality of Judicial Services”, the CJN urged the judges to take advantage of the capacity building workshop to properly position themselves to meet the challenges ahead.
