Kogi Gov: Business Guru, Kingsley Ilona Emerges APGA Candidate

KINGSLEY Idoko Ilona, a Businessman and Advertising Expert, has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Alliance (APGA) for the November 11 Governorship Election in Kogi state.

Ilona’s emergence came through consensus voice votes as replacement of the party’s earlier candidate, Abdullazeez Arokoya who voluntarily withdrew from the race.

Chairman of the party’s Electoral Committee, Ben Nweke who superintended the event at Saatof Hotel, Lokoja said Ilona’s choice was based on his excellent track record and believe that he would deliver the party.

Nweke said the new APGA candidate had a track record of excellent humanitarian services and marketable qualities to deliver the party at the polls.

According him, Record of Kingsley Ilona’s success story both in business and humanitarian endeavour will no doubt take Kogi state to the next level of development if given the opportunity to rule the state.

“Our choice of Kingsley Idoko Ilona as the party’s flag bearer is a divine mandate as he has the capacity to lead the state to the promised land

“Kogi under APGA will be greater and be able to witness unprecedented accelerated development in the years ahead”, Nweke assured.

Ilona in his acceptance speech, hinted that if given the opportunity to govern the state, he would focus more on improvement of revenue generating capacity of the state to enable it tackle poverty and underdevelopment in Kogi.

He decried the over-dependence of the state on Federal allocations saying that depending on Federal Allocation alone would not help to surmount the enormous developmental need of the state.

“Priority therefore, would be given to the agricultural and Industrialization of the state to boost revenue generation and tackle unemployment in the state

“Special attention would also be given to equity and justice in the distribution of the state’s resources without bias for ethnic, political and religious background.

“Quality education and healthcare services will also make our priority list” the governoship candidate promised.

He prayed that out of the 18 candidates from different political parties jostling to pilot the affairs of the state, God should give to the best candidate that can entrench good governance in Kogi state.
