Ex-SMEDAN Boss, Radda sworn in as new Katsina Gov

The former Director General of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Dr. Umar Dikko Radda has been sworn-in as the fifth democratically elected Governor of Katsina State.

Katsina State Chief Judge, Justice Musa Danladi administered the oath of office to Dr. Umar Dikko Radda and his Deputy, Faruq Lawal Jobe as at about 10:39am at Muhammadu Dikko stadium, Mani road, Katisna before the large crowd.

The Katsina State candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr. Umar Dikko Radda won the March 18 governorship election as was declared by the State governorship election collation officer and the Vice Chancellor, Federal University, Gusau, Zamfara State, Prof Mua’zu Gusau, polled 859892 a total number of votes to defeats his closet rival, Sen. Yakubu Lado Danmarke of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP who scored 486620.

Katsina State is the home State of President Muhammadu Buhari as the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC will still rule the State after eight years.

Dr. Dikko won the gubernatorial primaries for Katsina State of the All Progressives Congress, APC on 27 May, 2022.

Radda takes over from Aminu Bello Masari, the fourth democratically elected Governor, served the State two terms.

Former Governors of Katsina and Kaduna States, Barrister Ibrahim Shehu Shema, Abba Musa Rimi, and Abubakar shaibu of Maradi, Niger Republic among other dignitaries witnessed the swearing in ceremony.
