SENATE of Salem University Lokoja (SUL) has approved the appointment two new Professors, Sunday Okpanachi and Adebayo Williams as Deputy Vice Chancellors (DVCs) to help steer the institution to greater heights.

A statement signed and issued by the university’s Registrar, Dr Emmanuel Adejoh on Friday in Lokoja said the appointments of Okpanachi a Professor of French and Williams, a Professor of Law, took immediate effect.

The Registrar said that with the appointments which were approved by Senate at its Regular Meeting held recently, Prof. Okpanachi, formerly Director of Academic Planning, is now DVC Administration while Prof. Williams, former Dean, College of Law, is now DVC Academics.

“The two DVCs were nominated by our senate and subsequently approved by council to meet the challenges of the university and of the society,” the registrar said.

He added that the council expected a lot more from the new DVCs saying that their mandate included ensuring that the university is placed among the World academic best institutions.

Adejoh explained that the appointments were for a two-year period but renewable after the first tenure if the appointees could prove their worth.
