The Management of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA and the Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA have denied social media reports on some contracts awarded by the authorities describing such reports as mischievous.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja yesterday, the authorities insisted that the report was alien and “we believed that such is capable of hoodwinking/misleading the public.”

“The Authorities therefore wish to state clearly that at no time was the said information released or stated by any of the officials of the FCTA/FCDA”, the statement said.

The statement explained that the FCT Administration as an agent of government has the statutory responsibility to keep the general public abreast of the truth about the mentioned projects.

It further explained that “the Project referred to in Gaduwa is presumed to be the contract for the Emergency Rehabilitation/Improvement of Access Road to Nigeria Centre for Disease Control Laboratory in Gaduwa District.”

“The contract was awarded to M/s CBC Global Civil & Building Construction Company Nigeria Limited at the sum of N2, 493,389,942.88 as the name implies, it was an emergency due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and the need to quickly access the facilities for testing and treatment of infected persons.

“The scope of work comprises Road works, Surface Water Drainage, Culverts and River Training. It is 2.4km long asphalt concrete road. The project was completed on schedule and payment made in full. The assertions of the author are therefore false.

“On the issues of the contracts awarded at N10 billion and later jacked up to N119 Billion, there is no such contract known to us. The only contracts around that threshold are the Provision of Engineering Infrastructure to Guzape Phase II Cadastral Zone A11 District (new contract) at a contract sum of N112 billion which is ongoing and Provision of Engineering Infrastructure to Jahi District which was Reviewed upward (RETC No.2) to the sum of N129, 058,293,277.15 due mainly to additional works.

“Awarded Contract of N50 Billion later jacked up to N200 Billion. This is strange to us and believed to be figments of imagination of the writer. Award of contract of N6 Billion and later jacked up toN70 Billion, We do not have such contract. Similarly, it is our belief that the writer is just seeking to tarnish the image and good works done by the FCT Administration.

“Awarded Emergency Maintenance of Usman Dam at the cost of N9 Billion and paid in full without any BOQ and so many procurement infractions. We wish to state categorically that it is not true. Currently the nature of work here demands emergency attention due to the fact that it can result in disruption of water supply to the city.
