Comptroller Muhammed Umar Abubakar has been deployed to head the Katsina Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS.
This followed the recent appointments and redeployments of some management members and Comptrollers by the Acting Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi for optimal operational efficiency of the service.
Abubakar, on the 13th of September, 2023, took over as the Customs Area Controller from his predecessor Comptroller. MN Musa.
Comptroller Umar is a native of Bauchi State. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaira. He was enlisted into the Service as an Assistant Superintendent of Customs in 1989.
He attended several courses both within and outside the country. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Strategic Management, Nigeria.
Umar worked in various Customs formations, units, and departments, his posting has re-candled the light of hope that the Command will improve on its core mandate of revenue generation, trade facilitation, and smuggling suppression.
A statement by the Katsina State Customs Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Customs, SC Tahir Balarabe said the CAC thanked the Ag. CGC and his management team for the privilege to serve the nation as controller of Katsina Area Command, promised to uphold the highest standard of professionalism and work ethics, he further charged officers and men of the Command to be disciplined and professional while discharging their duties.
