Gender based women leaders and non governmental organizations, NGOs including the Eunice Nnachi Women Advocacy Foundation, in Bayelsa State have been urged to educate women under their leadership on the benefits of participating in elections.

The Program Officer, Nigerian Women Trust Fund, Barrister Malliya Manu stated this during a three day workshop tagged “Training of Trainers” held in Yenagoa the Bayelsa State capital

Barrister Manu explained that the essence of the training was to educate these women leaders to enable them train other women on the need to come out to vote and increase women participation in governance.

” The women who were invited and trained were all women who run organizations within communities already educating women so they have greater reach within the state”

She further urged these women to encourage other women in the state to go and collect their Permanent Voters Card, PVC’S to enable them vote in the forth coming elections.

Two participants from ENWAF who attended the event, Mrs Ebizimo Agedah, the Administrative Secretary and Treasurer, Mrs Felicia Samuel expressed appreciation to the organizers of the training saying they learnt many things about the electioneering processes which would be useful in their advocacy for women participation in governance, particularly during elections.
