Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has said it would partner the Republic of Italy on sustainable city, tourism and agricultural development.

This was made known by the FCT Minister, Barr Nyesom Wike, in a meeting with Italian Ambassador to Nigeria, Stefano Leo, in his office in Abuja, on Friday.

Wike said that Abuja has a very good landscape for agriculture and tourism development.

He explained that the recent publication of the names of embassies and commissions owing ground rent was not targeted at anybody, but to improve Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, which would be utilised for the development of the city.

The Minister assured the ambassador that the FCT Administration would make the environment conducive for embassies and commissions to carry out their duties and for businesses to thrive.

Earlier, Leo disclosed that his visit was to congratulate and wish the Minister well in his new assignment.

The Ambassador stated that he was impressed with what Wike did when he visited Rivers State in 2022, and expressed optimism that he would even perform better as Minister.

His words: “Having you here in Abuja means we can continue our very good cooperation. I will be glad to host you at the Embassy.”

“It will be a pleasure to follow your ideas to strengthen cooperation with you,” he added.
