PRESIDENT Bola Ahmed Tinubu has enjoined the people of Kogi to vote the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the forthcoming November 11, governorship election in the state, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for the state to be in synergy with the center.
Tinubu who was represented by his Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima made the call on Sunday at Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre, while flagging off Kogi APC Governorship Campaign in Lokoja.
According to the President, for us to build on the existing legacies and for the purpose of continuity and consolidation, it has become imperative for the people of Kogi State to align themselves with the centre.
He said that the Kogi which is one of the frontier states in the North, cannot afford to have a government that is hostile to the government at the centre.
The President held that for the people of Kogi State to benefit “immensely” from his Eight-Point Agenda and for the people of the state to benefit from the natural resources in the state,
“It is absolutely essential that we should vote for a younger, much more patriotic person who is grounded with the realities of Kogi State”, he said.
Speaking earlier, National Chairman of the APC and former governor of Kano State, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, commended Governor Yahaya Bello for providing food governance as well as lasting Infrastructural facilities in the state.
“You need continuity, you need consolidation and sustainability if you are to get these. Don’t make a mistake, you must vote for the young man who can carry the banner in the name of Ahmed Usman Ododo.
“God has blessed Kogi State with many nationalities. All that is required is for you to consolidate unite and bring about that unity in diversity. This is what is required of you at this time”, Tinubu urged.
Speaking in same vein the Chairman of the APC Kogi Governorship National Campaign Council and Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, said it was important to consolidate on the successes of Governor Bello in the State.
“We cannot afford to have a stranger in Government House, we have APC in Abuja. It is important that we have APC in Kogi. There must be an alignment of thoughts so that they can be a synergy.
In his remarks, Governor Yahaya Bello thanked God that he had been able to place the State on the path of sustained development.
“Within the period of service to the people of the State, I have built and improved Infrastructure, Security and recently made Education in the state free at all levels in public, primary and secondary schools.
“I’m proud to state that we are leaving Kogi State better than we met it for those that will govern after us. Without exaggeration, APC will win the November 11, Governorship election, landslide,” he said.
In his vote of thanks, the APC Governorship Candidate, Ododo thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President, Shettima and Governor Yahaya Bello for for engaging young people in Governance and active politics.
“Our agenda is “Kogi Agenda for development” which is consolidation, continuity and sustainability in the areas of Security Agriculture Education Human Capital Development and Women Empowerment among others.
“Our mandate is mandate for the unity and greatness of our dear state and as such, we are coming to consolidate and improve on the achievements of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello”, he said.
