In line with the present Administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu tuesday in Minna, Niger State assured the world that Nigeria’s economy is on the verge of Reawakening.
Represented on the occasion by the Minister of State Agriculture and Food Security Sen. Abdullahi Sabi, the President drew a parallel between Federal Government’s newly introduced economic policies and Niger State Green Economy initiative aimed at unlocking tha vast natural resources across the country.
The President gave insight into the new approved solid mineral development policy, approved during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held on Monday
He noted that the sync between FG’s new economic policies will definitely align, and benefit the Green Economy envisioned by the Niger State Government will further boost the economy and encourage a sustainable atmospheric environment..
President Tinubu then gave FG’s commitment to the enthronement of Green Economy over the next couple of years, with the belief that it will rub off the overall targeted improvement the country’s economy and sustainable environment. avour with the green economy vision you have for Niger State.
“Finally, I want to assure you that I’m fully aware of all the difficulties occasioned by some of the difficult decisions that have to be taken at this point in time and can assure you that with men of vision in charge of the country’s constituent States, yhi hd are begining to change for the better”
In an address of welcome, Governor Mohammed Bago of Niger State who convened the first subnational Green Economy Summit, disclosed that his administration has “produced its first Green Economy Blueprint, a strategic document outlining a visionary roadmap that will shape Niger’s development choices and steer actions, in alignment with the precepts of sustainability.
According to the governor, the Summit will at the end of the day, present a draft to stakeholders for their review and input, after which it shall be formally launched and applied in the preparation for the State appropriation proposals for 2024 and beyond.
Bago described the blueprint as a comprehensive guide that details the State government vision, objectives, strategies, and actions, designed to transform Niger
into a beacon of green prosperity that is environmentally sustainable, socially inclusive, and economically robust.
He added that the document cocers vital sectors, including renewable energy, transportation, infrastructure, agriculture, inclusivity, and tourism and lays out detailed plans for sourcing financial support, technology transfer, capacity building, and fostering strategic partnerships in the realisation of our mission.
“We envision a state with a sustainable economy, underpinned by substantial agricultural growth, investments in tourism, the utilization of renewable energy, the responsible extraction of solid minerals, fostering innovation, embracing cutting-edge technology, promoting diverse services, establishing free trade zones, cultivating industrial parks, and establishing economic cities as vital hubs for development and employment” he added.
