FCT Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, FCT NSCDC Command, CC Olusola Odumosu, has charged Officers and men of the Corps to be dedicated, committed and diligent in the discharge of their duties.
Odumosu gave this charge in Abuja, during the Command’s Promotion and Decoration for newly promoted Officers of the FCT Command.
While decorating the newly promoted 1,000 Officers with their new ranks, he stated that a total of 5 Officers were promoted from Assistant Commandant of the Corps to Deputy Commandant of the Corp, while over 50 Officers were elevated from Chief Superintendents of the Corps to Assistant Commandant of the Corps amongst others.
He charged the Officers to redouble their efforts in the bid to actualize the mandate of the Corps, noting that the Officers were promoted in recognition of their hard work and urged them to do their best and allow the Corps management to do its own in return, in line with the reward system emplaced by the management.
“Do not relent as you have been promoted. Promotion comes with responsibilities, therefore, always be on your toes and carry out your responsibilities judiciously,” he added.
The FCT Commandant, however, asked those who sat for the promotion examination but were unable to pass not to be discouraged but work harder, assuring them that the Commandant-General had made it a cardinal point of his welfare policy in the service that all backlogs of promotion were cleared.
You would recall that the federal Government through the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board, CDCFIB, had approved the promotion of 21,385 NSCDC personnel out of the 25,921 that sat for the promotion examination, which the Commandant General of NSCDC, Dr Abubakar Ahmed Audi, described as unprecedented since the establishment of the Corps.
