We’ll continue to foster peace between North, S’East, says Emir of Kano

*Hails Deputy Speaker Kalu on PISE-P initiative

The Emir of Kano, His Highness Aminu Ado Bayero, has said that he will continue to identify and promote activities that will foster peace between the North, the South-East and indeed, all regions in the country to ensure that it is sustained in Nigeria.

Emir Bayero’s assurance was contained in his speech at the recent unveiling of Peace in South-East Project (PISE-P) in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.

The initiative championed by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, seeks non-kinetic approach towards resolving the security challenges in the South-East region of Nigeria.

He said: “Today, as we celebrate the attainment of Deputy Speaker Benjamin Okezie Kalu to a greater height, we are reminded of the importance of maintaining peaceful coexistence between the North and the East and indeed all regions of our great country.

“It is imperative that we continue to foster dialogue, diplomacy, mutual respect, understanding, and collaboration, transcending tribal differences for the collective prosperity of our motherland.”

The Emir called on the Deputy Speaker to use the platform to cater to the poor and the indigent in the society, saying it will help to mitigate their economic challenges.

He also called for more prayers for God to sustain the unity and peace among Nigerians.

“We call upon the Deputy Speaker to utilise his esteemed position to advocate for the upliftment of the poor and the less privileged in our society. Times are hard and people are increasingly finding difficult to fend for themselves and take care of their family.

“Your leadership presents an opportunity to champion initiatives that will address the pressing needs of your people and promote inclusive development across Nigeria. We encourage you and all other elected representatives to set up foundations and endowments to give back to the society especially in the areas of education, skill acquisition and entrepreneurship.

“This will go a long way in cushioning the effects harsh economic situation being experienced by many ordinary Nigerians today.

“As a matter of significance beyond celebrating our achievements, let us not relent in prayer, seeking peace, devine guidance and prosperity for our beloved nation. May we continue to work together, guided by the noble principles of justice, compassion, equity and unity, as we strive to build a brighter future for all Nigerians.

“We congratulate the Deputy Speaker once again, we wish you more blessings and more success and wish to assure you that, by the special grace of God almighty, your best is yet to come,” he stated.
