Governor Bello Signs Social Investment bill, 9 Others into Law

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello on Wednesday assented to 10 bills including the bill for establishment of the State Social Investment Programme Agency and another repealing the State Internal Revenue Administration recently passed by the state House of Assembly.

Notable among the bills signed into Law by the governor is the bill repealing Kogi State Internal Revenue Administration, Harmonization of Taxes, Duties, Levies Rates, Fees, and Charges due to the State and Revenue Appeal Tribunal Law 2017.

The bill was re-enacted as the Revenue Administration and Other Matters Connected Therewith Law, 2024.

Others are the Kogi State Free Examination Registration Fees Bill, and a Bill for Establishment of Kogi State Senior Secondary Education Board, among others.

Governor Bello, while signing the Bills in Government House on Wednesday commended the State Assembly members for their invaluable contributions to the overall development of the State.

He reiterated the importance of a robust relationship between the Executive and the Legislature and commended the state Assembly for its dedication to the betterment of the state.

Speaking earlier, the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Aliyu Umar, extended heartfelt congratulations to Governor Bello for the successful completion of his terms in office.

Aliyu lauded Governor Bello for leaving behind indelible marks of progress and noted that the bills were the last to be signed by Governor Yahaya Bello.

The Speaker emphasized the state’s gratitude for the governor’s invaluable guidance, profound wisdom and deep vision that have played pivotal roles in steering the state towards growth.

Aliyu expressed confidence in the leadership of Governor-elect Ahmed Usman Ododo expressing the believe that Ododo would not only consolidate but also continue the legacy of good governance established by Governor Yahaya Bello.

It was gathered that a total of 89 bills has been assented to by the governor of Kogi State Yahaya Bello between January 27, 2016 and January 24, 2024.
