One killed, properties destroyed as festival turns bloody in Nasarawa

Nasarawa state was thrown into turmoil when a yearly festival that brings youths from all walks of life turned into a communal clash that led to the death of a community leader and destruction of properties worth millions of naira.

The incident which took place in Apawu community,Agwada Development Area of Kokona local government area of the state was visited by the speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, who assured that perpetrators of the communal attack would be tracked and punished to serve as a deterrent to others.

Jatau who was on assessment visit to Apawu community said his visit was to identify with the victims and see things himself

The Speaker who took time to inspect the burnt houses and properties destroyed urged the people of the community and other communities across the state to embrace unity and peace at all times.

The Speaker who was accompanied by the member representing Lafia North Constituency, Barr. Esson Mairiga, urged residents to support him as their representative and Gov Abdullahi Sule to succeed.

Danladi Jatau also visited the traditional ruler of the area, the Osu Agwada, HRH Abubakar Sadiq Kaika and the family of the deceased, appealing to the warring factions to tore the part of peace so as not to undermine the efforts of government in wooing development to the grassroots.
