Edo Assembly asks security agencies to rescue abducted PDP Chairman

The Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon Blessing Agbebaku has called on security agencies to intensify efforts toward the quick release of abducted People Democratic Party (PDP) Edo State Chairman Barrister Tony Aziegbemin.

Recall that Tony Aziegbemin Esq was abducted by gunmen along the country Home road in Benin City, around 11 pm on Sunday, to an unknown destination.

While commending the efforts of the security agencies in combating crimes in the state, he urged them to step up efforts to ensure the quick release of the PDP State Chairman unharmed.

“The kidnap of Barrister Tony Aziegbemin is unfortunate and up till now, there has been no communication between the kidnappers and the government or his.

“We share the pains with His Excellency, Gov. Godwin Obaseki, and the family of the abducted PDP State Chairman for the unfortunate incident, as we also pray for his quick release unharmed”, he said.

Goods worth millions of naira destroyed as fire guts three buildings in Lagos

Goods worth millions of Naira were in the early hours of Wednesday destroyed as fire razed three buildings at the Nnamdi Azikwe and Docemo section of the Idumota Market in Lagos State.

The cause of the outbreak is yet to be known as at when filing this report.

The fire affected three buildings, including two two-storey structures and one three-storey building in the market popularly for clothes, bags, and shoes.

The state Fire and Rescue Service took to their X handle to confirm the incident, saying it affected two two-storey buildings and one three-storey building.

Firefighters were at the scene to control the fire and also reduce the rate of damages.

A statement was released by the Director, LSFRS, and Margaret Adeseye, to give an update about the incident and also address the citizens.

“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service have been alerted to a Fire emergency at the intersection of Nnamdi Azikiwe and Docemo in Idumota, Lagos. At 07:41 hours, the call was received, and emergency services swiftly mobilised.

“Upon arrival at 07:58 hours, it was discovered that the fire encompasses three buildings, including two 2-storey structures and one three-storey building.

“Currently, firefighting efforts are underway at the scene.

“The fire stations at Ebute Elefun, Ilupeju, and Alausa have deployed resources to mitigate the situation effectively as firefighting operations are ongoing.”

“The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and investigations are ongoing”. Casualties have not been confirmed at the time of this report”, she added.
