Former Nigerian international, Finidi George began his tenure as Super Eagles Coach with a resounding 2-1 victory over the Black Stars of Ghana in an international friendly tie decided yesterday in Marrakech, Morocco.

Cyriel Dessers scored first for Nigeria while Ademola Lookman doubled Nigeria’s lead towards the end of the second half.

It was a brilliant finish from substitute Lookman as he rifled beyond the helpless Ati-Zigi from inside the box to surely secure the bragging rights for Nigeria.

Super Eagles goalie Stanley Nwabali copped a painful blow to the head while he thwarted Ayew as spirited Ghana cause more issues inside the box in the 72nd minute.

The Super Eagles dominated early proceedings and took the lead through Cyril Dessers.

Dessers calmly stroked home the ball from the penalty spot in the 38th minute.

Nigeria, coached by Finidi George, failed to convert more chances, with Dessers and Kelechi Iheanacho guilty of wasting them.

However, in the second half, Alex Iwobi found Ademola Lookman in the box and he lashed home an emphatic second. There was enough time for Jordan Ayew to pull one back in the closing stage.

The Eagles will face Mali in another friendly in four days.
