Ahead of the Edo 2024 gubernatorial election, Nigeria’s estate giant, business mogul and former Chairman of Owan West LGA, Hon. Daniel Asekhame and his loyalists have dumped the All Progressives Congress, APC, to join forces with the PDP, amidst thunderous cheers from the party faithfuls.

Asekhame and his loyalists; Arewa people in the LGA, APC members from Uzebba ward 9 and a host of APC members formed part of the census of personalities that joined the PDP in a well attended meeting that held at the LGA Secretariat in Sabongidda-Ora.

While welcoming Hon. Asekhame and others, the Party Boss in the local government, Engr. David Okoh-Aigbodion, said, “we will see you as our own. As you join us today, we won’t see you as strangers. You have equal rights as others.”

The Council Chairman, Hon. Dickson Ahonsi, expressed joy and stated that, “considering the calibre of personalities in Owan West, the PDP will no doubt, secure victory in the September election, describing Hon. Asekhamen as a man of great electoral value.

“Our togetherness is a source of strength.

“Today is the beginning of a new movement towards electoral success.

“Mr. Speaker has done so much, through his efforts and empowerment schemes, not forgetting the number of people he has appointed and employed since he became the Assembly Boss.”

The Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, while welcoming them into the party assured that, “with the formidable force joining the party, PDP will win the September elections overwhelmingly.

” We must continue to work hard in order to sustain and enjoy the ongoing progress in Edo State.

“With the calibre of leaders and personalities in the LGA that have joined us today, victory is ours in Jesus’ name.”

Responding to newsmen, Hon Daniel Asekhame who spoke on behalf of the decampees, declared that, “there is a problem in APC now.

“When I was in APC, I told them not to do anything against the interest of Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, the Speaker of the Assembly.

“I am not just joining the PDP, I am coming back home, PDP.

“This time, we need continuity of technocrats with the intellectual capabilities to deliver.

Asue/Ogie ticket will sustain the gains of the present administration.”
