Group Wants Accord Party governorship candidate, Kennedy Iyere substituted

The Concerned Citizens of Edo , CCE, has rejected the candidacy of Kennedy Iyere as the flag bearer of the Accord Party, AP, in the Edo State September 21st 2024 governorship Election .

The group in a protest letter addressed to the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, called on the commission to remove Kennedy Iyere as the Governorship Candidate of the party and replace with the rightful candidate.

According to them, Kennedy Iyere has a questionable character which will do the party no good if allowed to contest as the Accord Party candidate.

“Kennedy Iyere is a man with no character of purpose and has no fixed address anywhere in Edo State and Nigeria.”

The protesters carrying different placards such as, “Edo Youths Say No To Iyere”, “Market Women Say No To Iyere “, Edo People Say No To Iyere”, “We reject Iyere As Accord Party Governorship Candidate” and Iyere Is A Fraud Star”.

“We are asking INEC to please save us from the embarrassment Iyere will give the party if allowed to be the candidate of the Accord Party.”

“INEC, we have other candidates that are not fraudulent who can deliver for the Party.”

Addressing the protesters, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Dr Anugbum Onuoha advised the protesters to direct their protest to their Party National Chairman, who will then write to INEC.

He said, “Once the party writes the commission for a change of candidate it will then be corrected.”
