Niger Gov, Bago declare state of emergency on thugs

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has declared a State of Emergency on thuggery in the State.

The Governor disclosed this during the annual Mini Durbar organised by former Niger State Governor and Talban Minna, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu.

Governor Umaru Bago said the State Government will not condone any form of criminal activity in the State as his administration has zero tolerance for rascality and thuggery.

He said he has directed the security agencies to deal decisively with anyone caught up in thuggery or other criminal activities pointing out that sponsors of the criminal elements will also not be spared even as buildings warehousing criminals would be demolished.

Speaking on the annual Mini Durbar, the Governor applauded Dr. Babangida Aliyu for upholding tradition and the rich cultural heritage of horse riding.

The Governor while highlighting the significance of the event reiterated that it has been an avenue of strengthening bond and unity among the citizenry with a promise to ensure its sustainability.

He used the occasion to call on Niger people to come together as one regardless of party affiliation for the overall development of the State.
