Nasarawa Assembly makes case for more relief materials to victims of windstorm

Nasarawa State House of Assembly has requested the State Government to provide more relief materials to victims of the recent windstorm across the State.

Speaker of the House, Hon. Danladi Jatau made the call during the House proceedings on a matter of public interest brought by a member representing Keana Constituency Hon. Muhammad Adamu Omadefu over the windstorm that wreaked havoc in Keana Local Government Area.

The Speaker sympathized with the victims of the windstorm and commended the effort of the state government and individuals who have supported them so far.

Hon. Jato appealed to the state government to provide more relief materials to include food items, building materials among others to all the affected communities across the State to make them feel a sense of belonging.

“We call on Ministry of Education to visit schools affected by the disaster across the State and assess the level of damage and take prompt actions especially now that school has resumed,” he said

Earlier, while presenting the issue on the floor of the House under matters of public interest, Hon. Muhammad Adamu Omadefu lamented on the effect of windstorm in his constituency.

Hon. Omadefu revealed that the natural disaster of windstorm that occurred in Keana Local Government has caused serious havoc in the area affecting schools, worship centers and farm produce as well as residential houses among others calling for more support for the victims.

On his part, Hon. Musa Abubakar Ibrahim, member representing Doma South Constituency said his area was one of the worst hit in the State and appealed to the state government to provide succour to his people.
