The Executive Secretary Ncpwd Mr. James Lalu has pledged his support to the National Population Commission to ensure that disability data is not taken for laxity.
In his welcoming address the Executive Secretary National Commission for Persons with Disabilities Mr. James Lalu thanked the Coalition for putting together such initiatives. According to him, the forum is timely. However, at the Global Disability Summit, disability data was on the front burner and so he will ensure that accurate data of persons with Disabilities in the upcoming 2022 Census are taken seriously.
The Project convener, Dr.  Irene Ojuigo Orafa while introducing the meeting  to the leaders of Disability Community called for a fruitful deliberation  and proper planning. Dr. Irene also urged the disability community to take ownership of the project and drive it to success.
The Executive Director of DINABI, Olajide Funso who spoke on Disability Data/Statistics in Nigeria according to him, unreliable, non-disaggregated, estimation-based and completely under-represented the disability community. He said the conflicting figures can not be capitalised on data collation.
There was alot of brainstorming section , which yielded  very fruitful outcomes. It’s is therefore positive that with this great inniative from Drac and participation from MDAs the White paper project will go a long way to unveil accurate Data dis aggregation.
Other stakeholders also contributed to the deliberation and aired their opinions. Ag Director Social Integration, Bar. Ikem Uchegbulam Dr Adebayo among others.
