The FEDERAL government has honored the commitment of the Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, to the agriculture value chain through the consistent payment of counterpart funds for all national agricultural programs.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Sabo Nanono, presented the governor with a plaque of recognition yesterday in Abuja during a roundtable on value chain addition organized by the value chain department of the International Fund for Agriculture Development, IFAD, in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The roundtable discussed ways of strengthening the cassava and rice production value chain which encourages states to establish industrial processing complexes for cassava with the aim of extracting starch from cassava for pharmaceutical, brewing, and noodle industries.

Nigerian Pilot reports that the award was received by the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Agriculture and Water Resources, Prof. Otaki Alanana, who represented him at the event.
