(Chairman, FCT Secondary Education Board)

Born in Abaji FCT on August 7 1969, Alhaji Yahaya Musa Muhammad, attended the Local Education Authority Primary School, Agyana Abaji from where he graduated in 1982. He thereafter proceeded to Government Science Secondary School in 1982 and completed his secondary education in 1982.

His quest for education took him to the Zungeru College of Advanced Studies between 1988 and 1990. Again, he enrolled for further studies at the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1992 and obtained a degree in Political Science in 1995.

Undaunted, the energetic, young and dynamic Yahaya went further and acquired a Masters Degree in international Relations from the University of Abuja in the year 2013 and is currently researching for his Ph.D.

The honourable has also been active in Civil Service, beginning as a classroom teacher between 1997 and year 2000 and went further to serve as Principal Orientation Mobilisation Officer with FCT National Orientation Agency from year 2000 to 2006.

He later went into politics to give him the enablement to serve his people and society at large.

In the year 2007, the ebullient Yahaya contested the Chairmanship of Abaji Area Council and won a second term due to his exemplary leadership, which he served the Area Council meritoriously till 2013.

If Nigeria’s laws permitted, the people of Abaji Area Council were going to elect him for a third term and even beyond, as Hon. Muhammad’s tenure in Abaji produced landmark achievements in various sectors; particularly infrastructure, social service, youth and women empowerment.

Whilst at the Local Government level, he was to be elected by his colleagues and Chairmen to serve as Secretary of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria-ALGON, FCT Chapter, as a result of his sterling leadership qualities.

Hon. Yahaya was appointed as the Ameerul-Hajj – Leader of the FCT contingent to the Holy Pilgrimage in Mecca in 2009.

In 2019, pragmatic leader, whose organisational and mobilisational capacities had been spotted, was appointed Director General of President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election for the FCT Chapter.

As current Chairman of the FCT Secondary Education Board, Hon. Yahaya Muhammad’s achievements are profound, from infrastructural development to excellent management of human resources.

Alh. Muhammed has won several Awards of excellence among which are: The National Assembly Award as Best Performing Local Government Chairman in service delivery to the masses by Chairman, House Committee on State and Local Government in 2009, Eminent African Leadership Merit Award, 2007, African Youth Society Award, Kenya—2009, African Centre for Resource Studies of the National Institute, jos —2008.

The former Chairman was also conferred distinguished Administrator Award by the institute of Corporate Administration in the year 2010.

He recently received the prestigious award for Leadership Excellence by the Global Initiative for Leadership Success, GILS, an international organisation that monitors merit of leaders across Africa and beyond.

Muhammad is happily married with wives and children and spends his leisure time, adding value to humanity.
