Nigeria’s Olympic-bound Taekwondo fighter, Elizabeth Anyanacho secured her name in the finals of the Africa Taekwondo Championship going in Dakar, Senegal on Saturday.
The 22-year-old defeated current African champion and Tokyo bound Hedaya Malek of Egypt 6-5 in the semi-finals of African TKD Champs. She had lost to Malek in 2019 at the African Games in Rabat.
She had overpowered Umurerwa Nagede of Rwanda in the quarterfinals. 24-1.
The student of FUTO becomes the second-ever female to qualify for the Olympics in Taekwondo after Princess Dudu at the Athens 2004 Olympics.
